Bandarban-- (UNB) – Paying tax is always an unpleasant practice under compulsion, often involving evasion. But in the domain of Bomang monarch the payment is made pleasant.

‘Rajpunnah Mela’, a famous traditional revenue collection festival of Bomang Circle, began here yesterday (Thursday) for taxing people in such a merry mood.

Headmen of 105 moujas and over one thousand karbaris (heads of the areas) of Bomang circle formally began paying their annual land tax.

Prince Chahala Pru Jimy in royal attire appeared in the ‘Darbar’ on the occasion because of illness of the 15th Bomang king, Aung Shue Pru Chowdhury.

Of the three circles in three hill districts, Bomang Circle in this district has long been observing the festival.

“It’s a rendezvous for the people of this circle. We enjoy this festival,” said many a taxpayers at the fair.
